Taken in early May 2021 from the Hathaway Eastbound Rest Area, featuring cottonwood trees and various bunchgrasses and the Yellowstone River hidden behind the trees pass the ranch buildings. Here can also be seen the thicker bands of mudstone, claystone, and other weathered stones blended with lignite coal seams of the Fort Union Formation, ladened with jasper trees. The formation stretches from shortly after passing Medina, North Dakota all the way to near Bozeman, Montana.
